Richard Jubb
Grassroots Football in Mourning
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the tragic passing of Richard Jubb.
Richard was an East Riding FA registered Match Official and grassroots football coach. Remembered for his love of the game Richard enjoyed a long playing career which saw him feature for a number of sides in the area before taking on the role of referee.
He was renowned for his ability to take control of games in a calm yet authoritative manner and was always on hand to offer encouragement and support. Richard was respected by his colleagues and was happy to provide help and advice to his peers. He also supported a number of East Riding FA initiatives and took great pleasure in seeing people from all sections of the community playing and enjoying football.
More recently Richard took on the role of coach with him only just a few days ago leading his Bilton Belles side to cup glory in the East Riding Girls Football League U16 Trophy. Nothing was ever to much trouble for Richard and he always went the extra mile to ensure that the girls he coached did so in the best possible environment.
East Riding Participation and Communications Officer Chris Johnson said, "I have known Richard personally for a number of years and will miss our chats about football and in particular his beloved Hull City. Richard was selfless and always tried to do things for the benefit of others. Our grassroots football community has lost a true champion of the game."
Our condolences go to his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
