East Riding FA Men's Senior Cup Final

Bridlington Town lift East Riding FA Senior Cup after last gasp cup drama

Goals from Lewis Dennison and Ali Aydemir (2) helped ensure the Senior Cup returned to the East Coast after the Seasiders recorded a 3-2 victory over Hedon Rangers at North Ferriby FC's Dransfield Stadium.

A 700 plus crowd were treated to a fiercely competitive game with Rangers putting in a performance that did little to promote the gap in leagues with the Humber Premier League side running the Northern Premier League side close on a number of occasions.

Both sides created chances during an entertaining first stanza with Dennison's back post header being the difference between the two teams at the interval.

The goal gifted Town plenty of encouragment with them going on to enjoy a bright opening to the second half which was rewarded by Aydemir's first goal of the game on minute 56.

Undeterred by the 2-0 goal deficit Hedon continued to make the game the competitive and a disallowed goal in the 70th minute showed that they still had plenty to offer.

Their endeavour was reward just a few minutes later when Joe Wood found the net with an accomplished finish from a full 20 yards out.

Hedon continued to press the Town backline and they were right back in the game with 11 minutes left to play after Dan Clancy finishing well in the penalty area to make Bridlington regret not sealing the game when they had control.

The final though was decided deep into injury time when Aydemir scored his second goal and Town's third of the game when Dennison played an excellent pass to the right winger, who drove towards goal before finishing well into the bottom left corner.

A crestfallen Hedon Rangers side fell to their knee's whilst the Seasider's wheeled away in celebration.

Both sides served up a fantastic Senior Cup final with Bridlington Town, Hedon Rangers and the team of match officials helping ensure the bumper crowd were thoroughly entertained for the duration of the game.
