County Cup Finals to be staged at MKM Stadium
East Riding FA Senior and Women's Cup Final to return to the MKM Stadium
We are delighted to announce that for the first time since 2015 both the male and female East Riding FA Senior Cup and Women's Cup Finals will be staged at the MKM Stadium.
Our eagerly awaited return to the home of Hull City has been made possible after receiving support from local communications company KCOM. To help celebrate our return to one or the regions premier sporting venues admission will be completely free with our network of affiliated clubs and volunteers invited to attend the counties premier grassroots football finals.
The East Riding FA Senior Men’s Cup final, featuring Pocklington Town against LIV Supplies, will be held at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday, 24 May with the East Riding FA Women’s Cup Final, featuring Hull United Seniors Ladies versus AFC Preston Ladies taking place on Wednesday 25th May.
Adam Lowthorpe, Chief Executive Officer of the East Riding Football Association, said: “We are delighted that for the first time ever we are able to host both our Senior Men’s and Women’s Cup Finals at the MKM Stadium.
“We hope both events will be a celebration of grassroots football and showcase everything that is good about the local game. We are exceptionally grateful to KCOM for their support in making this happen and allowing both Men’s and Women’s teams the opportunity to play at such a prestigious venue.
“We hope with free stadium entry for both fixtures the games will be well supported and an occasion to cherish for clubs and officials.”
As well as the main finals, local youngsters will also get the chance to play on the hallowed MKM pitch with half time matches featuring four local Under 10s teams from Driffield Tigers, South Cave Grasshoppers, West Ella and Willerby. Players from Kingswood United Sapphires U11s girls team will also be the matchday assistants for the ladies final.
KCOM chief executive Tim Shaw said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to support the return of county final football to the MKM Stadium showcasing the best in local grassroots sport.
“It’s also a pleasure to see the women’s flagship cup final held at the stadium for the first time in its history. As a committed supporter of the local sports scene through initiatives such as KCOM Kits, where we donate a full Umbro team strip to a local youth club for every goal Hull City score at home, it’s great to see local talent given the chance to shine on the biggest stage. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the teams in action on the MKM pitch.”
