North Ferriby FC Crowned Walking Football League Champions

Congratulations to North Ferriby FC after they were crowned Champions of our inaugural 60+ Walking Football League.

The league season reached its conclusion yesterday with North Ferriby FC continuing to show their fine form after victories over Hornsea Town and Cottingham Rangers ensured that they completed the season unbeaten with the Villagers dropping points only one during their 12 games.

Although North Ferriby were clear winners credit mush also go to Hornsea Town, Wareham Forest, Cottingham Rangers and Hull Pace Makers who all helped make sure that the league was competitive and played in the right spirit.

Established to give people aged 60 and over the opportunity to play competitive walking football the league has proved to have been extremely popular with both seasoned campaigners and those looking in an organised structure for the very first time.

Final League table and Results

East Riding FA Clubs and Participation Development Officer Chris Johnson said; "We are delighted that we have managed to create a competition that provides people of all ability and fitness levels with the chance to play football. North Ferriby are deserved winners but the league has been so much more than who finishes top of the pile at the end of the season. With the new season set to kick off in just a couple of months time we are expecting more teams to join the league."

This season saw all the fixture beings staged at the University of Hull on their artificial 3G football pitch with teams playing two or three 30 minute games each match day.

Participation is limited to people aged 60 and over with games being 6-a-side.

The new season is expected to start in June so if you would like to register your interest in entering a team or would like more information then please contact Chris.johnson@eastridingfa.com
