East Riding FA partners with GiveToLocal

Regular income for grassroots football clubs

East Riding FA Partners With GiveToLocal

East Riding FA is delighted to announce our official partnership with innovative community sport organisation GiveToLocal – joining another 10 county FAs across the country.

With COVID-19 having left its mark upon grassroots sports and businesses across the UK, the need to support our local communities is now more important than ever. By connecting clubs and businesses together through their innovative service, GiveToLocal has the power to help both build towards a brighter and more sustainable future.

East Riding Clubs and Participation Development Officer, Chris Johnson, said: “We expect the biggest challenges that clubs will face is being able to adapt to the new ‘normal’.

“This includes implementing measures to safeguard club members at training sessions and matches.

“Additionally, I think that as a consequence of the current pandemic, clubs might struggle to attract local sponsors to support their teams.

“That’s why GiveToLocal can help out clubs across East Riding.

“We’ve been impressed by the model they use to generate regular income and this will allow clubs across the county to implement a more strategic approach to their long term planning.”

Since its inception in 2019, GiveToLocal has already managed to secure the support of a number of high profile Premier League footballers.

Alongside backing from legendary England forward Les Ferdinand, Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum, Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend and AFC Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson have all thrown their support behind GiveToLocal.

Through GiveToLocal’s user friendly application, donors and sponsors can support their local football club by donating as little as £3 per month - enabling everyone to play their part.

Individuals then have access to benefits and incentives from local businesses - which are also supporting their local club – to create a sense of shared action and true community spirit.

In recent weeks, GiveToLocal has also launched a number of interactive webinars designed to help clubs across the UK understand the benefits of being part of their ever-growing community.

Chris added: “It’s imperative that clubs and volunteers are provided with as much support as possible so that they can pick up from where they left off as quickly as possible.

“It’s also essential that we use this opportunity to showcase new ways of working and promote the benefits of using technology.

“Clubs need to realise that they don’t just represent the players, coaches and volunteers that make up their club.

“They also represent the community they sit in too. Recognising this will help them embed themselves firmly in the community and that will ultimately help them foster stronger relationships with other organisations.”

GiveToLocal’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Colin Stromsoy, is delighted that the organisation will now be working closely with the East Riding FA and supporting clubs across the area.

Colin said: “We’ve had fantastic discussions with Chris and the team at East Riding and we’re absolutely delighted to have entered into a partnership with them.

“Clubs and communities have had an exceptionally tough time and we’re determined to ensure GiveToLocal has a sustained and positive impact on clubs in East Riding - as it has elsewhere.”
