Neil Lee Training Supports ERCFA Initiative

Men city to receive new playing kit

Health and Social Care training provider, Neil Lee Training has continued to grow its fledgling relationship with grassroots football by provided financial support for Men City, the East Riding County FA’s award winning initiative which aims to get more men playing the beautiful game.

Set up over two years ago with the aim of making football more accessible Men City was recently presented with the Grassroots Football Community Project of the Year award by Hull City manager Nigel Adkins for its success in creating accessible opportunities for men to play football.

As well as offering age themed kick abouts for men aged 18+, 36+ and 50+ Men City also offers its patrons the opportunity to play in 11-a-side Challenge matches with many of the participants playing the full size version of the game for the very first time.

Clubs and Participation Officer Chris Johnson said “Since its inception Men City has made huge strides in creating opportunities for men to play football. Originally the project started as a Saturday morning kick about that attracted 10 to 20 people, this quickly increased to four mid-week age themed sessions and a number of 11-a-side Challenge Matches”.

After attending a number of the Men City kick abouts and witnessing at first hand the impact the initiative has on its participants Company Director Neil Lee kindly offered to purchase the project a brand new playing kit so that Men City has a clear and distinct identity when playing games.

Neil Lee said “I was on the lookout for a ‘no commitment’ required kick about for a while and stumbled across the Men City sessions. As they fitted into my work / life balance and were appropriately timed I jumped at the chance to lace my boots up again and get stuck in. As a regular participant I was offered the chance to play 11-a-side football which for me was a great honour. To my horror though the lads didn’t have a kit that which was befitting of such a great initiative, that’s when Steve Dixon asked if I would be prepared to back the project with the purchase of a playing strip. I instantly jumped at the chance.”
