A comprehensive full match report of the ERCFA County Juniors FA County Youth Cup game against Shropshire.

EAST RIDING COUNTY FA  8

SHROPSHIRE COUNTY FA  2

The East Riding Juniors were quickly on the offensive and they were rewarded in the 8th minute when Will Waudby’s shot was parried by keeper Kareem Zaman but Sam Tucker was first to react and netted from close range. 5 minutes later the Riding extended their lead when Jamie Forrester’s corner kick was  met by a Josh Bartrum header and the keeper was unable to prevent the ball crossing the line. The East Riding made it three in the 22nd minute when good work from Lewis Reeve set up Tucker who finished the move with a clinical finish. Shropshire threatened for the first time from a Liam Armstrong free kick only to be denied by a fine save from keeper Jordan Douglas turning the ball around the post. But Armstrong scored directly from the resulting corner kick, the ball going in off the far post.

The hosts dominance continued in the second half and they extended their lead with a marvellous goal when Reeve flicked on a through ball for Tucker to volley over the keeper to complete his hat trick. Tucker then added to his personal tally when he netted when one on one with the keeper. Matty Start came off the bench to have an immediate impact by scoring a hat trick during the latter stages of the game. This impressive victory should restore confidence in the team for the remainder of the season.

The East Riding will be at home in the next round to either Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire.
