Referee Development Team

The East Riding Referee Development Team provides training and education opportunities and support for all levels of Referees within the County. Our small but committed team of full-time staff and volunteers are fully focused to increasing the number of referees, encouraging match officials to reach their full potential and essentially, raise the standards of refereeing across the county.

Steve Lazenby

Steve is the Referee Development Officers in the County and has been in this full-time post since January 2008. Steve has nearly 25 years experience within refereeing and is a Level 3 FA Tutor responsible for appraising the Referee workforce both locally and nationally. He assesses referees from grassroots up to Contributory League level, as well as still being an active referee himself when he has the time. Steve’s role includes, referee recruitment, retention of referees as well as managing the tutor/assessor workforce and implementing the Referees section of the County plan. Steve is also the County Welfare Officer and lead officer for the RESPECT programme, raising the standards of behaviour within football in the County.
