A message to the East Riding Grassroots Football Family,

COVID-19 has created challenges and situations that many of us will have never been presented with before. We have all had to find a new ‘normal’ with the way we work, rest and play constantly changing.

The past six months has seen grassroots football face its biggest ever test with the ramifications of the pandemic set to continue for several years. That said we have started to see the light at the end of the tunnel and the fact that training session and matches albeit under FA and Government guidelines has been permitted is both positive and welcome.

As a nation we now enter another testing period which is why we want to thank you for your endeavours and efforts in making sure grassroots football in our county is COVID safe. We appreciate how much the game was missed during the last lock down and recognise the incredible impact football makes to your life in terms of both the game itself and the friendships formed within it.

We hope and expect the new lock down measures to be in place for the intended time period only so that the enforced break from football is a short one. Your cooperation in helping make football happen in the most testing of times has been both humbling and inspiring, you are the heartbeat of grassroots football in our county and we thank you for weathering the storm so far.

Grassroots Football football will be back but for now please take care and stay safe.
