England striker Jodie Taylor, who began her career at Tranmere Rovers, said:

“I can’t wait to go back for this game, it’s been a dream of mine for a long time.  It was at Tranmere that I first started playing properly and it really set me on the path to have the career that I have had.

“Russia are a good team and it will be an excellent test for us to play them at the start of the campaign.  We’ll want to get off to a strong start and get the three points.

England last played Bosnia in their Euro 2017 qualifying campaign, beating them 1-0 in both games. The Lionesses beat Croatia 3-0 on their last visit to Walsall, in 2012.

England centurion Karen Carney, who scored the winner in Bosnia in 2016, said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to Walsall. It’s a fantastic stadium and we’ve had great support there before.

“Bosnia were a tough team to break down in the last campaign so we’re expecting a good test and will be hoping to get the win and get some goals as well.

“I am sure we’ll have a strong crowd cheering us on.”

Walsall club secretary Daniel Mole said: “We’re delighted to be hosting England Women in a World Cup qualifier here at the Banks’s Stadium.

“We are thankful to the Football Association for selecting us to host yet another prestigious fixture and feel sure it will be as successful as the events we have hosted on their behalf in recent seasons."
