Disability Leagues

Across the East Riding we run 2 disability football leagues. The leagues run around a mixture of competitive football , fun and enjoyment. We run an 11-a-side and a 5-a-side competition that work with players of varying disabilities, football ability and experience. All teams are coached by experienced coaches who have many years of experience both in football and working with individuals with a disability.

East Riding Ability Counts League

This is a 5-a-side football league made up currently of 9 teams from across the county. League fixtures are played on the last Saturday of every month in a tournament style format. Games are played in 2 halves of 10 minutes with four fixtures being played at one time.

The league is currently for those players aged 16 years and over with no upper age limit. For those players aged under the age of 16 we are currently holding several small sided festivals throughout the year.

The league runs from the Hull University Sports and Fitness Centre, with fixtures taking place on the Astro-Turf pitches on Inglemire Lane Hull.

Teams within the league are always looking to increase their squad numbers and would welcome new players. If you would like more information on any of the teams within the East Riding Ability Counts League then please click on the links below.

The is a Charter Standard Football League that also adopts the Respect initiative.

East Riding Community Inclusion League

This is an 11-a-side football league ran in partnership with Humber NHS Foundation Trust and The Tigers Sport and Education Trust. This competition is again for players aged 16 years and over and works to include individuals with a mental health problem or a physical or learning disability. The ethos of the league is to promote social inclusion and to help fight the stigma attached to mental health problems.

The league is currently made up of 8 teams from various organisations playing bi-weekly fixtures at the Hilltop Sports Ground in Willerby. The league has formed a great partnership with Westella and Willerby FC who allow us use of their facilities and have been very supportive of the league.

Matches take place every other Thursday starting at 10:30am and 12:30pm with spectators welcome to come along. Since its inception the league has won several high profile awards including the National Service User Award for Service User Lead Community Initiative.

A main aim of the league is to help individuals develop and begin to reintegrate properly in to society and in to employment. We have several players from within the league who have gone on to volunteer within the league and also within partner organisations.

We are always looking for new organisations to join us within the league. If you would like more information about league or how to get involved please contact Pete Allison, Disability Football Development Officer on 07798 884500
