Fulford FC achieve Charter Standard Community Club status

1:00 PM, Tuesday, 13 July 10.

Last month saw Fulford Football Club achieve the pinnacle status of the Charter Standard Programme in becoming an FA Charter Standard Community Club. In achieving this status they become just the sixth club affiliated to ERCFA to achieve this accolade.

John Suddards, Chairman of the East Riding County FA and Charter Standard Committee presented the club with the award.

“On the 29th June 2010 I attended the Fulford FC AGM to present the so richly deserved Charter Standard Community Award. They are only the sixth club in the County to receive this prestigious award. I met with club Chairman Andy Robinson and Secretary Graham Souter who are doing a fantastic job looking after a very progressive club who are seeking better facilities for their players and coaches in this very difficult economic time. Also in attendance was Roger Taylor from sponsors Langley's who have supported the club for many years. It was a pleasure to meet the coaches of this club who are also doing a fantastic job in supporting Charter Standard and the ERCFA in their development efforts. May all their ambitions come to fruition.”

The statement below has been made by Fulford FC club secretary Graham Souter:

Fulford FC are delighted to announce that they have been awarded the status of Charter Standard Community Club by the Football Association. The award presented to the Club reflects the effort and commitment of the volunteers who run the club and its 18 teams. Fulford FC are one of only 6 clubs in the East Riding County to have achieved this high standard. The FA Community Club scheme builds upon the foundations of the Charter Standard scheme in placing clubs at the heart of their community.

Fulford FC started life as Fulford Juniors and changed their name 12 months ago following their successful amalgamation with Fulford United, the local senior club. This step represented the final piece of the jigsaw in the junior club’s plan to achieve Community Club status. The committee now aims to continue to strengthen the club’s position in the community by working with local partners to improve access to excellent training and match day facilities for club members; further announcements will follow! However growth of the club will go hand-in-hand with the club’s ethos of maintaining a competitive approach with a smile on your face.

The photo shows the award being presented by John Suddards Chairman of the East Riding County FA and Charter Standard Committee to the Fulford committee and Roger Taylor of Langley’s solicitors who have generously sponsored the mini soccer and boys section of the club for many years.

We would like also to thank our other Main Club Sponsors Barclays & Sportsmatch who's sponsorship of the Girls section has led to a playing membership of over 70 in just three seasons, unfortunately they could not be present on the night.
