Charter Standard Community & Development Club In-Service Coaches Workshop

1:51 PM, Thursday, 03 June 10.

On Tuesday 1st June an In-Service coaching demonstration was held for Charter Standard Community and Development clubs at Hill Top Sports Ground, home of Westella & Willerby FC.

The demonstration was led by FA Regional Coach Development Manager and Ex Doncaster Bells and Leeds United Ladies Coach Julie Chipchase who coached players from Westella & Willerby under 15 Boys team.

Julie’s session focused on the basics on passing highlighting how a session can be ‘scaffolded’ up by taking it from an unopposed practice to opposed concluding with a match related practice. Coaches in attendance were able to identify how certain principles of Julies practice and the variety of coaching styles and techniques she used could be taken away and adopted within their club environments.

Martin Oldroyd coach at Sproatley Juniors said “I think everyone enjoyed and it also gave us all at least something to think about in the way we work with our young footballers. Any open session such as that has a lot of benefits for the Coaches as we can always learn from each other and the differing approaches of other experienced Coaches.”

Simon Wares of Westella & Willerby added “I found it most interesting, Julie was a great coach and delivered the session superbly, it gave me a different approach to delivering my sessions of bringing the basics back but in a fun way.”
