The East Riding County FA judging panel picked a number of deserving candidates to enter the regional heats after which the winners go through to a national awards ceremony in August.

All County Award Winners will receive:

The regional winners will be selected in the next couple of weeks as a series of Regional Awards judging panel events take place across the country. These candidates will then go through to the national judging panel. This national final will be held at the Wembley Stadium on the same day as the FA Community Shield fixture between the 2010 FA Cup winners and Premier League champions.

The National Award judging panel will feature 1966 World Cup winner and McDonald’s Director of Football, Sir Geoff Hurst, plus The FA's Director of Football Development, Sir Trevor Brooking.

Football Development Officer, Jack Matthews commented: "We're delighted that the grassroots football community from across the county are supporting The FA Community Awards as volunteers and dedicated coaches make such a difference to youngsters who want to learn and enjoy the game."

As the FA’s Community Partner and as a major supporter of grassroots football, McDonald’s is partnering with The FA on these awards to recognise and reward clubs and individuals for their commitment to football week in, week out in communities across the UK. Over the last eight years, McDonald’s has helped drive the training and recruitment of over 10,000 community coaches and aims to improve standards at grassroots level to help coaches and clubs play an even greater role in community football.

The FA Community Awards winners from our county are:

• Outstanding Contribution: Keith Pinder (Hull Boys Sunday Football League)
• Charter Standard Community Club: Beverley Whitestar FC
• Charter Standard Development Club: Long Riston FC
• Charter Standard Club: Withernsea AFC
• Volunteer of the Year: Norman Harris (Driffield & District Football League)
• Young Volunteer of the Year: Lauren Asquith (Hull College Girls Centre of Excellence)
• Coach of the Year: Alan Hemingway (Beverley Whitestar FC)

Credit must also go to the many other quality nominations which meant the judging panel had some tough decisions to make in several of the categories. Many thanks to all the people who took the time to nominate their club or volunteers within their club for the hard work and dedication they put into grassroots football that often goes unnoticed. The number of nominations received was very high as was the quality of these.
