County FA Honours Roy West.

The East Riding County F.A. announce the Official Opening of their new Office complex and Prestige Pitch on Inglemire Lane.

Vice-Chairman of the Football Association – Mr Barry W Bright – will perform the official opening of this new facility on Friday 3rd October 2008 at 4.00 pm.

The County FA has been looking for a site to locate their own offices and ground for some time before the University of Hull offered land on their Sports complex on Inglemire Lane. The partnership with UoH will benefit both parties with the University 1st team using the prestige pitch for their fixtures. The County will host representative matches and County Cup games on the floodlight pitch.

The new facility will be named the Roy West Centre in recognition and honour of the late Roy West of Leven who was for many years a Council Member and was keen to see the County FA realise its dream of having such a permanent home. When he died in 1994, Roy left a bequest to the County FA for this purpose and, wisely invested, contributed some 35% of the project cost. The Football Association were also a major contributor.

Guests attending the opening include the Lord Mayor of Hull Cllr Elaine Garland and Chairman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Cllr Bryan Pearson.

During the afternoon and evening, the Centre will host a series of events covering the work of the County FA including a schools’ festival, coaching session and referee development.

This facility will enable the County Football Association to fulfil its commitment to Govern, Develop and Support football in Hull and the East Riding.
