As several anxious teams waited to hear whether or not they would be turned away feeling disappointed for the second month running, staff at the Sports Centre inspected the pitch and much to everyone’s relief finally gave the go-ahead for the league. After the successful launch of the pilot league in October, 2010 saw the start of the first round of fixtures for the league as teams began to compete for the league trophy whilst players fought to increase their goal tally in the hope of being crowned top-goal scorer at the end of the season. February saw the welcome addition of a new team, Linden Lions to the league who were excited to be given the opportunity to take part in competitive fixtures with other teams from the area. The morning was a huge success and both players and volunteers are looking forward to next months fixture on Saturday 27th March.
The East Riding County Football Association would like to give their great thanks to the Cottingham Rangers team who have provided their training venue for the league as well as all of the referees and volunteers that helped out throughout the day.
