Coaching Disabled Footballers

Designed to give coaches and teachers ideas and practices for the inclusion of disabled players in football sessions within mainstream or impairment specific sessions.

This six hour course covers both theory and practical elements. By the end of the workshop each participant should be able to meet the following outcomes:


• Apply and extend your existing coaching skills and experience, meet the needs of players with a range of impairments.
• Establish basic communication skills for coaching disabled footballers.
• Use appropriate terminology
• Identify appropriate safety and medical considerations.
• Plan a wide range of coaching sessions for disabled footballers.

• Using the Inclusion Spectrum, plan your coaching sessions to include disabled players or provide alternative appropriate opportunities.
• Understand the player pathways available for disabled players including the appropriate structure for competition.

Time: 9.00am – 5.00pm
Venue: Longcroft School, Burton Road, Beverley.

Cost: £40

Please note that a pre-requisite for this course is the completion of the FA Level One Coaching Certificate.

The East Riding County FA are offering a 50% discount to 5 candidates in return for volunteering five hours at disability events organised by the East Riding County FA. This could be at the adult disability league, the junior disability league or one off special schools football tournaments. Volunteering can vary from refereeing matches and assisting with coaching to setting up facilities and organising teams and players.
