East Riding FA - developing football for everyone
Development - take your skills to the next level

Development

Introduction

The East Riding County FA are committed to developing the game at all levels.

After extensive research and consultation involving over 18,000 participants and all major stakeholder groups the FA produced a National Game Strategy 2008 – 2012. This document contains a strategic framework that sets out key priorities, expenditure proposals and targets for the National Game.

The FA defines the National Game as all football played in England outside of The Premier League and The Football League.
Following on from the FA National Game Strategy and after a period of localised research the East Riding County FA produced a County plan showing how the local football community will work together to deliver key targets within the County, which in turn will contribute to the National Targets.

The National Game Strategy has distilled all the challenges into four strategic goals we need to address over the next four years.

GOAL 1: Grow the game and retain participants:
We need to increase the number of players and keep people in the game.

GOAL 2: Raise standards and address abusive behaviour:
We need to create a safe and positive environment for everyone in football.

GOAL 3: Develop better players:
Specifically, we need to focus on improving the quality of the 5-
11 age group.

GOAL 4: Run the game effectively:
We need to lead and govern the game with integrity and
minimum bureaucracy.

In turn, three key enablers are required to underpin delivery of these goals, again these were identified in the consultation process:

  • A skilled workforce: We need to recruit and train a highly skilled and diverse paid and volunteer workforce.
  •  Improved facilities:
  • We need to improve the quality of – and access to – training and playing facilities.
  • Marketing and PR:

We need effective, targeted campaigns to drive key messages, such as raising standards of behaviour, respect towards referees and the positive benefits of participating in football.

The East Riding FA submit a scorecard quarterly to the Football Association. The information from all County FA’s is collated and measured against the key performance indicators identified in the National Game Strategy.

Our scorecard from quarter 2 showing our figures against the goals and enablers is available to view in 'Related Documents'
